A Reiki class may last several hours. Then you will receive the energy in the form of an attunement.
Q. What is a Reiki attunement?
The attunement is the transmission of the energy from the Master Teacher to the student while the Master Teacher is in an open and amplified state. You not only learn Reiki – you physically receive the ability to channel Reiki.

Q. Can it be used to help groups of people or even global crises?
Yes, and it is encouraged that all practitioners do this constantly and consistently. Together we can help the world.
Q. How much does a treatment usually cost?
The practitioner can set the fee at whatever they feel is reasonable. A one hour session can usually be expected to cost around $60 to $80. Q. Can you get more than one attunement?
One attunement for each Reiki Degree is all that is necessary. However, you can never receive too much, and if for some reason you feel the need to retake a class, and get the attunement again, that is strictly your choice. If you don’t use your Reiki for a long period of time you may need to sit in meditation and reactivate it, but it is always with you and available to you.
Q. What is lineage?
It is believed that although this energy has always been present on earth, it had become dormant through non-use. Dr. Mikao Usui was born in 1865 in Japan and lived until 1926. He was well educated and brought up in the Buddhist tradition, but studied many other things as well. During a spiritual experience on Mount Kurama during a 21 day meditation he received energy in the form of symbols. When he returned from his meditation he discovered that he had the ability to heal people by using what he had experienced himself on the mountain and incorporated that knowledge and those symbols into his healing practice. He called the new system ‘Reiki’ which in translation means ‘Universal Life Force Energy’; and acknowledges the creator and originator of that healing energy. Dr. Usui opened a clinic and during his lifetime he taught and passed the energy onto his students. One of the students was a Dr. Hayashi, who later passed this knowledge and ability on to a Mrs. Tanaka who originated from Hawaii. It is believed that she brought this knowledge back to the West. During her life Mrs. Tanaka attuned hundreds of Masters who in turn attuned students of their own. All Certified Reiki Healers can trace their lineage ultimately back to Dr. Usui, who is acknowledged to be the father of Reiki
